Aorere Shelter Campsite is one of nine Great Walk campsites on the Heaphy Track.

All campsites on the Heaphy Track have water from a tap and long drop toilets that are supplied with toilet paper. Aorere also has a shelter.
Campers are not permitted to use hut facilities.
Hut rangers move between nearby huts in the summer. As well as checking campsite bookings, they are able to provide campers with information about the track and weather.
Fees
1 October – 30 April
New Zealand citizens and those ordinarily resident in New Zealand*:
- Adult (18+ years): $19 per person, per night
- Child (5 to 17 years): $9 per person, per night
International visitors:
- Adult (18+ years): $28 per person, per night
- Child (0 to 17 years): $14 per person, per night
Proof of eligibility is required for the New Zealand rate.

For all visitors:

- Child (5 to 17 years): $9 per person, per night
The DOC Campsite Pass cannot be used at this campsite.
Bookings
Aorere Shelter is on the Heaphy Track. It's a 4 hr walk from the start of the track at the Brown Hut and campsite and a 1 hr walk to Perry Saddle Hut and campsite.
