Introduction
Hunt white-tail deer in this coastal block in Rakiura National Park – a 'restricted area permit' is required. A separate permit is required for possum trapping.- Possum hunting: You need both a restricted hunting permit and a possum trapping permit for this block. Get a possum trapping permit by emailing stewartisland@doc.govt.nz

General information
Yankee River is a coastal block in Rakiura National Park.
How to book restricted hunting blocks and apply for hunting permits.
Bookings are required and can be made up to 12 months in advance. Check availability of Stewart Island hunting blocks.

Access

Dogs are not allowed as this block is within a national park.
Huts
Yankee River Hut
Hunters can only use half the bunks in this hut – the hut is shared with trampers. Be prepared to camp if party sizes exceed this ratio. Bunks aren't guaranteed with a hunting block booking.
