Fiordland’s marine reserves offer excellent scuba diving and snorkelling opportunities - there are 10 marine reserves where all marine life is protected.

Visitors can dive or snorkel in Fiordland’s marine reserves independently or with one of the tourism or charter boat services available.

Protect our marine reserves
  • No fishing of any kind.
  • Don't take or kill marine life.
  • Don't remove or disturb any marine life or materials.
  • Don't feed fish - it disturbs their natural behaviour.
  • Take care when anchoring to avoid damaging the sea floor.
