Habitat

  • Found in a small clearing within tall podocarp rainforest.

Description

  • Upper surface dark brown with traces of a dark mid-dorsal stripe.
  • Sides dark brown bordered above with a thin crean stripe becoming more narrow towards the hind legs.
  • Dark sides bordered below by a whitish stripe from the head to the front legs which breaks up into a series of widely spaced spots.
  • Distinctive 'teardrop' marking beneath the eye.
  • Snout vent length probably less than 75 mm.

Distribution

  • Known from one location only.
  • Found in the Whirinaki Range, 60 km northeast of Lake Taupo.
