Survey of New Zealanders 2019

Introduction

Find out about New Zealanders' attitudes toward conservation and DOC, and their recreation activities on public conservation land, as surveyed in 2019.

In 2019, 2,803 New Zealanders aged 18 years and over participated in a survey about their engagement with conservation, their views about DOC and its work, and their use of public conservation lands and waters, including historic sites.

Participants completed the questionnaire online. The survey results and methodology are presented in the reports below.

Note: Due to a change in methodology, direct comparisons between the 2019 survey results and results from previous years are inadvisable.
