Mountain biking

This is a shared-use track. Follow the mountain bikers code: respect others, respect the rules, respect the track.

This marked mountain biking loop is located off Waitaramoa Road. Waitaramoa Road comes off SH30 (the Te Kuiti - Mangakino Highway) almost opposite the Pureora Field Base.

To reach Okahukura Loop, drive 3 km further north on Waitaramoa Road from Select Loop Road and turn left onto Okahukura Road. A few kilometres along there is a car parking area next to the Okahukura Stream. There are some side tracks but most are short.

  • There are several unbridged streams along the route, so care should be taken during flooding.
  • There may be trees across the track at any time.
  • Carry enough food, water and warm clothing for a safe and enjoyable time.
  • There is no fuel in Pureora, so ensure you have enough before you visit. A small range of retail products are available at Pa Harakeke (open 7 days during the summer season, and 5 days (Mon – Fri) during winter).
