Located in Nelson Lakes National Park in the Nelson/Tasman region

Porika and Braeburn Road mountain bike tracks are easy to intermediate tracks that pass through farmland, stream fords, and beech forest.

Braeburn Road

Distance: 10.5 km
Grade 2: Easy 

At the Gowan Bridge, Lake Rotoroa, turn west onto the Braeburn Road.

The gravel road passes through farmland, stream fords, and beech forest before arriving at the Tutaki–Matakitaki Valley turn off.

Two further options are available at this point; continue on the gravel road to the Matakitaki Valley (no exit), 35 km or, the tar sealed road to Murchison, via the Mangles Valley, 22km.

Porika Road

Grade 3: Intermediate

Approximately 13 km west of St Arnaud is the Howard Valley turn off on State Highway 63. Follow the gravel road to the sign indicating the start of the Porika Road.

The gravel road passes through farmland, stream fords, and beech forest before arriving at an excellent viewing point overlooking Lake Rotoroa.

The descent to the township is steep and rough. This trail description finishes at Lake Rotoroa.
