Introduction

Animals present in the Kinloch/Kōwhai Bush hunting block are red deer, fallow deer and chamois. This is a steep beech/tawhai forested block on the eastern flank of the Humboldt Mountains.

General information

This is a steep beech/tawhai forested block on the eastern flank of the Humboldt Mountains.

This block is covered by an open hunting permit, but a condition is that the neighbouring landholders must be informed before hunting in the area.

Shooting is not allowed within 500 m of Woodbine Homestead.

Access

Access to Kinloch/Kōwhai Bush hunting is via two tracks only. Turner Creek Track and Glacier Burn Track.

From Glenorchy, follow directions to the Routeburn and Greenstone Tracks. Cross the Dart road bridge then turn left. After about 3 km Turner Creek track is your right. Alternatively, there is a bridge over the Glacier Burn after about 6 km, where the Glacier Burn track is signposted.

No other points of access to this block are permitted.
