Ces Clark Hut

Located in Paparoa National Park and Southern Paparoa Range in the West Coast region

This is a 16-bunk hut in the Greymouth area. You must book this hut in advance.

Facilities and services

All huts on the Paparoa Track have:

  • heating
  • long drop toilets supplied with toilet paper, and
  • cold running water.

The huts have:

  • gas cooking facilities,
  • sinks with cold running water inside the hut, and
  • mattresses on the bunks.

You'll need to bring your own cooking equipment and sleeping bag as these are not supplied. For example, billy, bowl, utensils.

There are no showers in any of the huts.

Fees

1 October – 30 April

New Zealand citizens and those ordinarily resident in New Zealand:

  • Adult (18 years and over): $48 per person, per night
  • Child (5 to 17 years): $24 per person, per night

International visitors:

  • Adult (18 years and over): $72 per person, per night
  • Child (17 years and under): $36 per person, per night

Proof of eligibility is required for the New Zealand rate.

1 May – 30 September

For all visitors:

  • Adult (18 years and over): $48 per person, per night
  • Child (5 to 17 years): $24 per person, per night

Backcountry Hut Passes can be used as payment for Ces Clark Hut, however you'll need to book online, then claim a refund. To claim a refund, email paparoavc@doc.govt.nz with your booking reference and a scanned copy of your Backcountry Hut Pass.

Bookings

  • Smoke-ho car park: 4–5 hr walk, 2–3 hr ride (10.3 km)
  • Moonlight Tops Hut: 3 hr walk, 1 hr 30 min – 2 hr 30 min ride (9.7 km)
