The Wellington region encompasses Wellington, Lower and Upper Hutt, the western part of Rimutaka Forest Park, the South Wellington Coast from Ōwhiro Bay to Makara and the coast from Eastbourne to beyond Turakirae Head.
SH1 and SH2 traverse much of the area and there are numerous side roads that provide access into the backcountry and public conservation land.
