Located in Te Miro and Te Tapui Scenic Reserves hunting in the Waikato region
Te Miro and Te Tapui Scenic Reserves have low densities of fallow deer.
DOC works collaboratively with the New Zealand Deerstalkers' Association (NZDA) Waikato Branch to administer the terms and conditions of hunting in these reserves to balance conservation and recreational values.
Te Tapui Scenic Reserve, which is 2,370 ha, is divided into two blocks for hunting. Block A has a track in it and is slightly smaller than Block B. Te Miro is 401 ha.
Te Miro and Te Tapui hunting blocks are open for balloted hunting only from 1 March until 30 April. Ballot papers are available from early November and must be received back no later than the second Friday in January. The ballot is drawn at the end of January.

From 1 May to 31 October hunters may apply for a one or two day period.
From November to February the blocks are closed for fawning.
Both blocks are north of Cambridge.
Te Tapui blocks can be accessed from Piakonui Road. A block and B block have different entrance points.
Te Miro is accessible from Gray Road.
The reserve is surrounded by private land.

There are no huts in these reserves.
