The Pirongia Forest Park and surrounds hunting area comprises conservation land contained within an area from the south of Hamilton to the Raglan Harbour and from the north of the Kawhia Harbour to Te Awamutu.
The more significant parcels contained within this hunting area are the Pirongia Forest Park (which includes Karioi Block), Te Kauri Park Scenic Reserve, and Motukokako Point Scenic Reserve.
Feral goats are in relatively low numbers due to control by DOC and other agencies. Pigs are present in moderate numbers in the Pirongia Forest Park and Te Kauri Park Scenic Reserve. Very low numbers of red and fallow deer exist within Pirongia Forest Park.
Pirongia Forest Park is near Hamilton city, and has many access points. Some access ways cross private land. Keep to marked tracks and use stiles and fences.
