Kauri Coast area hunting

Located in the Northland region

Introduction

The Kauri Coast area offers opportunities for hunting pigs and goats in several large and popular open hunting areas.

The Kauri Coast area has four large and popular open hunting areas; from the spectacular Waima, Mataraua, Marlborough, Kaihu and Houto Forests to other smaller scenic reserves like Wahaotetupua.

The hunting blocks range in altitude from lowland grasslands rising up to 781 metres. Te Raupua is the highest point in Northland situated in the Waima Forest and is consistent with rolling hills to steep terrain.

The Kauri Coast offers good opportunities for hunting pigs and goats. Kiwi are present throughout the Kauri Coast area so DOC requires all dogs hunting on public conservation land to have a current avian (kiwi) aversion certificate.
