Introduction

There are good opportunities to hunt for wild pigs, deer and goats in the Whakatāne Waioeka Urutawa.

The Whakatane Waioeka Urutawa region covers an area from just west of the Waiotahi Valley to Toatoa on the old Mōtū Road and inland to Matawai this includes Urutawa and Waioeka Conservation Areas.  There is over 85,000 ha of public conservation land within this region.

The area is characterised by both large tracts of remote rugged forest areas as well as small accessible conservation areas.

Hunting opportunities within the area include wild deer, pigs and goats.
