Located in North Canterbury & Arthur’s Pass hunting in the Canterbury region
The Jollie Brook hunting area now includes the former Mt Mizar and Lower Jollie Brook hunting blocks. It is surrounded by the Glens of Tekoa and Island Hill Stations on the eastern boundaries, with Glenn Wye Station to the north. The south western flanks are boarded by Lake Sumner and the Hurunui River.
The terrain is moderate to steep. Vegetation is predominantly beech forest with some shrubland, tussock and open tops. Pigs, red deer and chamois are present in low to moderate numbers.
The Jollie Brook Track is a very popular tramp and other hunters and trampers will be encountered. Take precautions and identify your target.
Access to the area is via Lake Sumner Road. There are car parks at both the Jollie Brook and Sisters swingbridges which provide foot access across the Hurunui River.
The access routes do not require landholder permission.
