Recreational hunting in the North Canterbury & Arthur’s Pass region targets chamois, deer and pigs. The region covers Canterbury from the coast to the Southern Alps, north and west of Christchurch.

It covers a 11,880 km region including the foothills, forests and peaks of the Southern Alps, and the rivers and streams that flow down from the mountains and across the Canterbury Plains.

The North Canterbury and Arthur’s Pass region covers the North Canterbury region of the South Island from the coast to the main divide of the Southern Alps; north and west of Christchurch city.
