Located in Westland Tai Poutini National Park in the West Coast region
The main hut has 4 bunk rooms on the upper level of the building.
You must be fully equipped, including with gas cooker and cooking equipment - you aren't able to use the facilities in the Sierra Room.
The Sierra Room is a sole occupancy room within Welcome Flat Hut, available for groups of up to four. It has gas and a gas cooker, pot-belly stove and a shower, lighting and basic kitchen and cooking equipment. Although located within the main building, it has separate access for a more private backcountry experience.
Toilets are shared with the hut and campsite.
Passes are valid for use in this hut from 1 May to 30 September. Passes won't be accepted from 1 October to 30 April.
Pay when you make a booking. Hut tickets cannot be used in this hut. Backcountry Hut Passes can be used in this hut from 1 May to 30 September only.
$132 per night (sleeps 1–4 persons)

Book Welcome Flat Hut and Sierra Room online
Your booking for the Sierra Room is for a maximum of four people. If you have more than four people in your group, they need to have a booking for (and stay in) the main hut or campsite. Due to fire regulations no more than four people can use or stay in the Sierra Room.
A $10 service fee applies to phone and in-person booking. This is a limited service – book online first. An in-person booking is dependent on there being space available.
Your hut booking is for any bunk bed, not for a specific bunk bed – select your bunk bed on arrival.

No cooking facilities are provided – you need to carry portable cookers.
No rubbish facilities are provided in the backcountry – pack out what you pack in.
In times of severe weather such as sustained/heavy rainfall, the Copland Track may be closed often at short notice. This is due to flooding and/or other damage.
If closed, notices will be placed at the start of the track. Check weather and conditions at the nearest DOC office before departure. Refunds will be issued in these instances – contact the Westland Tai Poutini National Park Visitor Centre.
