Dog access
This well marked track climbs gently through the forest taking you to a tussock basin enclosed by steep granite cliffs.
There is the option to link this track with the Klondyke Spur track as a round trip by continuing on and climbing up to the upper basin with alpine tarns.
Follow the ridgeline towards the marked Klondyke Spur Track, picking it up at the bushline. Do not attempt to take a low sidle as this will lead you to dangerous bluffs.
Drive from Reefton or Springs Junction on SH7 to the Rahu Saddle. The track is well signposted from the highway with good pull offs and carparking.
For a dog permit contact the Māwhera / Greymouth Office.
