Mount Pureora from the lookout
Rimu Walk

Located in Pureora Forest Park in the Waikato region

This short loop walk from Kakaho Campsite takes in the fantastic views and the tall trees of the Pureora Forest.

This loop walk follows the Kakaho Stream through dense rimu forest, crossing bridges and walking amongst tall rimu with abundant birdlife. The track then climbs to a viewpoint which looks out on the forest and Mount Pureora.

Descending from the viewpoint, the track emerges further along Kakaho Road, not far from the campsite.

This walk is ideal for those staying at the campsite, or for a short stop for anyone taking the scenic drive through the Pureora Forest Park via Kakaho and Link Roads.

The track starts at Kakaho Campsite, at the end of Kakaho Road, off SH32 (Tihoi Road). It's 43 km from Taupō – follow Poihipi Road, then Marotiri Road to SH32, or 26 km from Pureora Village - follow Barryville Road, then Link Road to the campsite.
