- Hot showers are $2 coin-operated.
- Camp office hours are 8:30 am – 9:00 pm. Contact Uretiti campsite on +64 9 432 1051.
- Camp gates and barrier arms are locked from 9:00 pm – 7:00 am.
- Camp hosts are on-site all year.
Fees
- Adult (18+ years): $15 per night
- Child (5–17 years): $7.50 per night
- Infant (0–4 years): free
Passes
The DOC Campsite Pass can be used at this campsite.
Campsite Pass bookings must be booked online before occupying a site. If you do not book, bookings may be made by campground staff (if present) and will incur a $10 service charge. Sites may not be available if you do not book.
Bookings
Bookings are open for stays up to 30 June 2025.
All bookings are first-come first-served. We do not have waiting lists for bookings for future seasons or facilities that are already booked-out.
Bookings are required all year. Book well in advance for the busy summer season. .
A $10 service fee applies to phone and in-person booking. This is a limited service – book online first. An in-person booking is dependent on there being space available.
Your booking will be for the number of people in your party – there are no designated sites. Find space for your party on arrival.
There is a minumum 3-night stay from 28 December – 1 January.
Uretiti Beach lies between Whangārei and Waipu on Northland's East Coast.
Drive on SH1 5 km north of Waipu or 34 km south of Whangārei, turn off at the signpost. Follow road to beach and camp.

Rubbish and recycling
This campsite operates a ‘pack in, pack out’ policy for waste. There will be no rubbish collection. This includes compost and recycling.
Uretiti Recycling Centre is located on Tip Road, a 4 km drive from the campsite.
Water safety
Bream Bay has strong currents and rips. If you wish to swim, we recommend swimming at the lifeguard patrolled section of the beach beside Ruakaka.
Check the water quality information to find out if it is suitable for swimming before you enter the water.
If you plan to enjoy the water, learn how to stay safe when swimming, boating and fishing.
Be aware that crab fishing in Bream Bay is dangerous and several people have died doing it.
Vehicle restricted areas on beaches
Rules for vehicle access on beaches has changed in several place around Northland/ Te Tai Tokerau. This means you can no longer drive on the beach in some places in this area. See Northland Regional Council’s website for more information and a map of where vehicles are not allowed.
Surf, fish or swim at the beautiful sandy surf beach. Walk along the stunning coastal track at Mangawhai Heads, only a 20 min drive south, or explore the nearby Waipu Caves.
