This track follows old farm tracks and logging roads through a mixture of vegetation types. There are good opportunities to enjoy ocean views and many excellent camping sites along the way.
Shorter option
For a shorter walk (1 hour one way), start at Seaward Valley Road entrances. Follow the track through retired farmland up to the saddle. Here you are greeted with superb views of the ocean and Seaward Kaikoura Ranges. From the saddle return the same way back to the car park.
Mountain biking
This is a challenging ride with two major climbs. Steep to medium gradients are combined with a surface that is rutted in places and can be slippery or muddy when wet.
This is a shared-use track. Follow the mountain bikers code: respect others, respect the rules, respect the track.
Access points with car parking are located at either end of the track at Okiwi Bay and Blue Duck Valley Road, off SH1. Toilet facilities are located at Okiwi Bay car park.
