From the summit of Mt Fell the track drops steeply down a loose rocky bluff to follow along an undulating ridge covered in scrubby mountain beech forest, before climbing to the top of North Peak(1496 m). Climb down a steep drop-over at the north western end of North Peak, down a narrow rock chute, then along a rock ledge. These sections, have wire ropes to act as handrails.
The track then follows down the ridge to a saddle just before Conical Knob. Just beyond this saddle the track forks. The right hand fork continues along the main ridge, climbing over Conical Knob and then down the long leading ridge, before finally dropping steeply down to Middy Creek Hut.
Note: This route has many fallen trees. Visitors must be prepared to navigate off track for periods of time. You need to be competent in off track travel and navigation. Allow extra time for your walk.
