Ahuriri Estuary has over 70 species of resident and migratory waterbirds that use the area to feed and rest.
Visit Otatara Pa Historic Reserve with one of the most outstanding defensive and settlement complexes in New Zealand, or Ahuriri Estuary with an extremely diverse range of birds, fish, invertebrates and plant life.
Former Napier Courthouse was designed by William Henry Clayton (1823-77), the first and only Colonial Architect, and constructed between 1874 and 1875. The building now houses DOC's Hawke's Bay District Office.
