600 m return via same track
This is an easy short walk through mountain toatoa and beech forest with wonderful views out to the volcanoes of the Tongariro National Park.
After a short descent you will arrive at the Tawhai Falls which tumble over the edge of an ancient lava flow.
Return to the carpark via the same track.
The carpark is located on SH48 approximately 4 km from the Tongariro National Park Visitor Centre.
No drones
Unauthorised use of drones is prohibited. You must have a permit to fly a drone.
DOC does not generally approve permits to fly drones in this national park and we do not recommend you apply for one.
