Huts have basic facilities. You'll need to take:
- Sleeping bag
- Stove and fuel
- Pots/pans and utensils
- Toilet paper
- Rubbish bag (to pack out all rubbish, including food scraps)
- Newspaper/fire starter and matches/lighter for the wood burner
- Torch

- Adult (18+ years): $25 per night
- Child/youth (5–17 years): $12.50 per night

Before you go, buy Hut Tickets for each night's stay. Put these in the honesty box at the hut. Or buy a Backcountry Hut Pass that gives unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for a 12 month period.

Approximate time from nearest road end and huts
- SH 6 (Haast Highway) via Gillespie Pass Track: 4–5 hr (15 km)
- Siberia Hut via Gillespie Pass Track: 2–3 hr (7 km)
- Top Forks Hut via Wilkin Valley tracks: 7–10 hr

Full huts during peak season
This hut, along with other huts in the region, is popular with trampers from December until after Easter. We recommended you carry a tent or roll mat when tramping during this period.
