Rangihau Track

Located in Coromandel Forest Park and Kauaeranga Valley in the Coromandel region

This track descends from Pinnacles Hut to Rangihau Road end.

The track descends steadily for about an hour to a river crossing (no bridge), then climbs steeply through scrubland. After crossing a side stream the track drops steadily through scrubland towards Rangihau Road.

There is a further 3-4 hours of walking along a rough 4WD road to Coroglen unless arrangements have been made for a vehicle pick up.

The Kauaeranga Valley is east of Thames on the Coromandel Peninsula.

Stay safe when crossing rivers

If you plan to cross unbridged rivers, know how to cross safely and be prepared for if you cannot cross.

Do not cross if the river is flooded, you cannot find safe entry and exit points or are unsure it’s safe. Turn back or wait for the river to drop. If in doubt, stay out.

Thefts from vehicles

Isolated carparks are prone to theft. Don't leave any valuables in your vehicle. A bag storage facility is available at the Kauaeranga Visitor Centre.
