Facilities and services
Huts have basic facilities. You'll need to take:
- Sleeping bag
- Stove and fuel
- Pots/pans and utensils
- Toilet paper
- Rubbish bag (to pack out all rubbish, including food scraps)
- Newspaper/fire starter and matches/lighter for the wood burner
- Torch

Backcountry Hut Passes are valid for use in this hut from 1 May to 30 September. Passes won't be accepted from 1 October to 30 April.

Camping
Fees to camp by the hut are 50% of the hut fees.
Camping cannot be booked online. Before you go, pick up hut tickets to pay for your stay. Give this to the warden or leave it in the honesty box at the hut.

Before you go, buy 3 Standard Hut Tickets (blue) for adults or 3 Standard Youth Hut Tickets (yellow) for youths for each night's stay. Put this in the honesty box at the hut. Or buy a Backcountry Hut Pass for unlimited use at most Serviced and Standard huts for a 12 month period.
Bookings
Bookings for stays from 22 October 2026 to 30 April 2027.
- If no availability shows online for your dates, the hut is fully booked.
- No spaces are kept for visitors arriving without a booking.
- Phone and in‑person bookings made at a visitor centre incur a $10 service fee.
- Same‑day bookings are available online until 8 pm if spaces remain.
Labour weekend (late October) - 30 April

Your hut booking is for any bunk bed, not for a specific bunk bed – select your bunk bed on arrival.
