Munro’s Gully Track

Located in Gabriels Gully Historic Reserve in the Otago region

Explore the beech forest and water races right next to the site of New Zealand’s first goldrush and discover historic dams that powered the shifting of entire hills.

After pulling into the grassy parking area at Victoria Dam, wander up through the beech forest of Munro’s Gully.

The track follows the route of historic water races to historic Cornishman’s Dam which was used to store water for sluicing in Gabriels Gully and Munro’s Gully.

The track crosses a forestry road – take care and look both ways before crossing.

Munro’s Gully Track can be accessed from Victoria Road on the west side of Gabriels Gully
