Summary of proposal

Alpine Guides Fox Glacier Limited have applied for a concession for guiding in the Fox Glacier Te Moeka o Tuawe Valley and on the Fox Glacier Te Moeka o Tuawe, including mountaineering and tramping guiding services.

More specifically the activity includes:

  • Half and full day walks on the glacier (when safe foot access is available)
  • Ice climbing
  • Terminal walks
  • Day and overnight trips to Chancellor Hut
  • Heli Hikes – half day and full day at Victoria Flat
  • Overnight camping at Victoria Flat
  • Associated aircraft activity to land glacier guiding clients at Victoria Flat, when safe foot access is not available.

Concession applied for

Glacier guiding in the Fox Glacier Te Moeka o Tuawe Valley, Westland Tai Poutini National Park, including associated aircraft landings and overnight camping on the glacier.

The activity is predominately a reissue of existing glacier guiding activities including associated aircraft landings and addition of overnight camping.
