Introduction

Students will be flown from Aoraki/Mount Cook Airport over Tasman Glacier.

Option one: Ski plane – 45 minute trip Students are flown over the icebergs in the Tasman Glacier terminal lake. They land briefly on the Tasman Glacier at the base of Malte Brun, with expansive views up the glacier, and on the return flight, they check out the Hochstetter Icefall, tumbling from the Grand Plateau of Aoraki/Mount Cook. 

Option two: Helicopter – 25 minute trip This quick flight gives students a chance to experience the thrill of helicopter flying over the Tasman Glacier – landing on it for 10 minutes, Then back down the largest glacier in New Zealand viewing Aoraki/Mount Cook, Malte Brun and Murchison Glacier.

Duration: Depends on trip you take. Arrival is 45 minutes prior to departure for safety talks
Hazard level: High – air flight and glacier landing
