Kauri Block Track

Track category

Walking track

Time:

45 min one way

Distance:

1.6 km

Description

Ten to fifteen minutes in, the track forks. A brief walk up the right hand fork takes you to the highest point, an old pa site which offers spectacular 360° views of the Coromandel Ranges, Islands and township. Back on the main track follow the ridge through regenerating bush and native plantings to where it emerges at Harbour View Rd.

Getting there

A right of way next to No. 356 Wharf Rd, at Kauri Block, leads you to the beginning of this track.

Plan and prepare

Before you go into the outdoors, tell someone your plans and leave a date to raise the alarm if you haven't returned. To do this, use the New Zealand Outdoors Intentions process on the AdventureSmart website. It is endorsed by New Zealand's search and rescue agencies and provides three simple options to tell someone you trust the details about your trip.
