Updated 17 July 2014

Kauaeranga Valley Road partly open

The Kauaeranga Valley Rd is closed to vehicles beyond Hotoritori campground (3 km past the visitor centre) due to major erosion but is open for walking. Trampers intending to do a day walk to the Pinnacles need to consider the extra time to walk 6kms to the road end before starting the track.

Pinnacles Hut is open but care should be taken on all tracks after the weather event in June.

Webb Creek walking track is in order but the bridge at the bottom of the Billygoat walking track has been closed due to flood damage meaning people will have to cross through the river at this point. Given the recent flooding here extreme caution is advised.

Maratoto off-road tracks

The gate to the Maratoto off-road tracks closes each year from approximately the end of May to enable track repairs over the winter.
