Kauaeranga Valley Road open

Updated 7 August 2014

The Kauaeranga Valley Road is now fully open, but is only one lane at the point where the slip occurred. This is approximately 3 km past the Visitor Centre. The road may be subject to reclosure without warning in the event of heavy rain and/or at the discretion of the Department of Conservation. Drive with care.

The bridge at the bottom of the Billygoat track is closed due to flood damage meaning people will have to cross through the river at this point. This is not advised during or after heavy rainfall.

Maratoto off-road tracks

The gate to the Maratoto off-road tracks closes each year from approximately the end of May to enable track repairs over the winter.
