Te Anau - gateway to Fiordland

Lake Te Anau is a beautiful lake with a stunning mountain backdrop in Fiordland National Park, part of Te Wāhipounamu - South West New Zealand World Heritage Area.

Te Anau is the closest town to world-famous Milford Sound (2 hours drive), and the start of the Kepler Track and Milford Track (Great Walks).

Lake Te Anau is wonderful for many family and water activities, including great access for boating, fishing and kayaking.

Location

Lake Te Anau is in south-west New Zealand, Fiordland National Park. The town of Te Anau has full visitor facilities and is about 2½ hours drive from Queenstown, and 2 hours drive from Invercargill.
