There are no DOC-managed huts in the Far North. DOC campsites are in close range to some hunting reserves, but not all.
You can hunt pigs and goats in the Far North East Coast hunting blocks.
The forests, gumlands and shrublands of the Herekino and Ahipara hunting blocks offer opportunities to hunt pigs and goats.
The 7,515ha Raetea Forest and Mangamuka hunting blocks offer opportunity to hung pigs and goats.
Located north of Kaitaia, Te Paki Recreation Reserve is a popular destination for local hunters.
You can hunt pigs in the Warawara Forest and Hokianga hunting blocks.
