Mangatoetoe Hut

Located in Aorangi Forest Park in the Wairarapa region

This is a standard six-bunk hut in the Wairarapa region.

Mangatoetoe Hut was built by the New Zealand Forest Service in 1978. The building was originally going to be a shelter at Te Kopi, but due to severe erosion to its intended site in 1977, it was re-designed as a  hut and transported to Mangatoetoe. All materials had to be carried 600 metres to the site.

The hut is managed by volunteer Mike Maulder.
