Otago Conservation Board

The Otago Conservation Board represents the interests of the community. Essentially the board is the community's voice in conservation management in Otago.

All the board's members live within the Otago Conservancy, and as a board focus specifically within the conservancy's boundaries. One of their major roles is to oversee the implementation of the Otago Conservation Management strategy.

The board is also an important link between the community and DOC and meet bi-monthly for two days, on a rotation that takes them to different parts of the conservancy.

The first day is a meeting and much of it open to the public, particularly the public forum which is always held in the early afternoon. The second day is a field trip which allows them to see conservation work and recreation facilities in different parts of Otago.
