Tongariro National Park Management Plan discussion document

Consultation closed 20 June 2010

The proposed process and timeframe from here includes:

  • Analyse the submissions
  • Draft a report to the subcommittee identifying the submitters ideas and concerns and policy advice
  • Reconvene the subcommittee and approve any draft changes
  • Notify changes

This process could take up to two months, depending on availability of the subcommittee and manager's to sign off the draft changes.

Background

The Tongariro Taupo Conservancy is considering a partial review of the Tongariro National Park Management Plan which was adopted in 2006. The partial review will consider a number of policies that were introduced to manage impacts and/or reduce effects on the environment are not producing the outcomes that were intended.

We are seeking feedback from interested parties and stakeholder groups. The feedback will contribute to the preparation of policy changes which will be included in the notification of the Department’s Draft Tongariro National Park Management Plan Partial Review mid 2010. This is an informal process.

We were seeking feedback on three policies, which was your chance to tell us if we are:

  • Heading down the right track?
  • Identifying the issues correctly?
  • Have thought of all the options?
