A helicopter is dousing a fire in the Far North
Over recent years concern over how fires start, the damage they cause and the increasing resources required to fight fires have lead to the need to develop a pro-active approach to fire prevention around Northland. As well as imposing total fire bans and fire restrictions and issuing permits for lighting fires in the open air, DOC is working directly with communities and stakeholders to raise awareness of the threats wildfires pose and engage people in helping prevent them.
