To run a commercial business or non-profit activity, occupy land or build a structure on conservation land you need to apply for permission (a concession) from DOC.
You need permits to collect and/or undertake research on plants, animals or geological samples or to take, hold, release or kill protected species.
You need permission from DOC to use a prospecting, exploration or mining permit on public conservation land, or the foreshore and seabed. You also need a Crown Minerals Act permit.
